Relativistic versus Nonrelativistic Approaches to a Low Perveance High Quality Matched Beam for a High Efficiency Ka-Band Klystron

Advanced technical solution for the design of a low perveance electron gun with high quality beam dedicated to power Ka-band klystrons is presented in this paper. The proposed can be used feed linear accelerating structures at 36 GHz an estimated input 20 MW, thus achieving effective electric field (100–150) MV/m range. Additionally, framework Compact Light XLS project, short structure providing integrated voltage least 15 MV, has been bunch-phase linearization. For klystron, very small dimension needed and responds requirement. An estimate rotational velocity edge indicates that diamagnetic due currents are compared longitudinal volume. A detailed analysis how achieved, including compression beam, rotation magnetic field, subsequently generated discussed.
